A team of twelve bereavement counsellors support the families
and friends of patients who have died whilst under the care of
Michael Sobell House. They make contact approximately one month
after the person has died and counselling can range from a one-off
telephone contact, or a single session to a fixed number of sessions.
Our bereavement counsellors see people in Michael Sobell House,
or visit them in their own homes if necessary. They aim to help
by listening; allowing expression of feeling and making sense
of whatever the grieving person is experiencing.
Periodic coffee evenings allow people to return to Michael Sobell
House for mutual support and the opportunity to regain confidence
in a social setting.
