The Day Centre unit is located within Michael Sobell House. The
aim of the unit is to create a safe, supportive and open environment
where individuals are encouraged to maintain their independence.
Advice on symptom control, counselling, complimentary therapies,
art therapy, crafts and outdoor activities are just some of the
ways we can give a sense of control and order back into the lives
of patients. Clinical procedures such as blood transfusions, blood
tests and wound dressings can be provided in day care.
There are many different members of staff who compliment the unit
such as qualified nurses, health care assistants, occupatiional
therapist, physiotherapist, volunteers and a chaplain.
Referral to the Day Centre is provided through Macmillan nurses,
district nurses, GP's and many other health care professionals.
We are able to provide volunteer drivers for patients who have no
transport facility and this is a door-to-door service. Patients
are welcome to visit the Day Centre for a general look around and
a chat if they wish, which can be organised through the above referral
system.
