Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physiotherapy (PT) are available
at Michael Sobell House for people attending both inpatient and
outpatient units.
We aim to keep people as independant as possible, supporting them
to maintain their usual routine wherever possible. Therapists assess
any mobility or functional difficulties which can develop as a result
of the disease process. This may involve exercise, supplying any
walking sticks, frames and wheelchairs. Independance may be maintained
by supplying items such as bath and dressing equipment, reviewing
home environment and looking at patients needs for carers if they
are unable to manage every day tasks. We also offer psychological
and practical support for some distressing symptoms which may be
experienced such as shortness of breath or anxiety.
Working together as part of the team, OT's and PT's assist people
to ahcieve their own goals in a holistic manner, supporting them
to live safely, independantly and with dignity.
