The nursing and medical teams at Michael Sobell House provide a
24-hour palliative care telephone support line which is available
for healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, social workers, etc.,)
and also for patients, relatives and friends who may have concerns
or require information.
Healthcare professionals can ring at any time, night or day, 365
days of the year, and speak to a nurse or doctor about any aspect
of palliative care. This may be general questions about symptom
management, illness progression, pharmacological advice or specific
questions about the management of patients in their care.
Patients, their family and friends are also encouraged to call
as help is always at hand from friendly experienced staff. The staff
are able to offer advice and guidance, whatever the nature of the
call, such as wound care, symptom management (pain, nausea, constipation,
etc.,) or general questions about diet for example.
Whatever the need, you are welcome to telephone and speak to any
member of our medical or nursing team to help with any concerns
you may be experiencing.
Such calls are audited and we are proud of the fact that many people
in the community turn to us for support, advice and information.
